Synth DIY is a huge part of my life. I have gotten so much information and learned so much from the dozens of different dedicated synth DIY community web pages that are out there - unfortunately, a lot of them are no longer updated and some have been taken down.
This page/blog/whatever is my attempt at giving back to the synth DIY community and trying to put myself out there a little.
Full disclosure - I am not an engineer. I don't have a college degree. I was an aircraft electrician in the US Air Force for six years and I have been an industrial mechanic specializing in controls, etc. for the last twelve years. I will make mistakes, I will use terms that don't make sense and I will probably muck other things up. I will struggle with things that are probably elementary to anyone with an engineering background and I might make circuits that accomplish a task in the most ass-backwards way you have ever seen. So it goes. We live and we learn. I just ask for some grace!
Some might say that my hobby is the collection of hobbies... I do all kinds of shit. I've been trying to teach myself machining and metalworking in my garage, I do woodworking with mostly hand tools, I do wood-turning. I build synth shit. I build guitars. I build arcade machines. I do 3D modeling. I do graphic design. I am learning game development and pixel art. Music. Audio production. I can't sit still apparently.
You can reach me via email at disaster-electric (at) protonmail. Fair warning - I am not the greatest at remembering that I have to check my email!
